Mountain Peak Fluchthorn collapses due to permafrost thaw
Watch how on June 11th 2023 in about 3400 meters the southern summit of Fluchthorn collapsed in a massive landslide! The culprit, permafrost thaw.
The mountain peak lost approximately 100 metres in height, when it collapsed what geologists attribute to permafrost melting, the main culprit for such events in the Alps.
The sturzstrom (rock avalanche) fell into the western area of the peak, into the Futschöl Valley.
A camera recorded the event, watch it in below video.
