Biodiversity Restoration at Elings Park
The largest privately-funded park in America, as Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Channel Islands Restoration, and community volunteers work together to restore biodiversity by creating a thriving native plant sanctuary on the Park’s South Bluffs.
A conservation effort
A four-part series, “Restoring Nature: A Story of Biodiversity and Community at Elings Park” explores the Park’s history, from its origins as a farmed mesa and landfill to its current role as a community recreational hub and vital open space for local wildlife. Learn about the importance of native plants in supporting biodiversity, the challenges of native plant conservation, and the inspiring efforts of the Garden and its partners to revitalize a special area within this cherished community park.
