Torrential rain hits southern France causing over 600 mm flash flooding

Torrential rain lashed the south of France on Thursday, causing severe flooding and triggering alerts in several regions.

EuroNews: The Ardèche has seen some of the worst conditions, with rivers overflowing and roads closed. Schools in the department will remain closed on Friday, October 18.

More than 320 firefighters and four helicopters were deployed to deal with the situation.

Météo France has issued red alerts for flooding in several regions, while 18 others remain under orange alert.

Up to 630 mm of rain was recorded locally in 48 hours.
