YouTube/Google shuts down largest climate science channel in the world

We recently reported YouTube Channel Termination (January 2017), for unknown reasons our YouTube channel got “terminated”, without prior warning. The account was in good standing had no ongoing violations.

The Climate State channel was the largest climate science channel on the Internet, with 18k subscribers and close to 400 videos. However, we are no longer allowed to “possess” any YouTube channel. While we still can access our sister channel, we will transition content to our new streaming platform.

Account termination by YouTube is not only puzzling but it is concerning when the work of 4 years is suddenly gone. Yes, that’s right, we lost access to over 280 videos with various content, mostly about climate, energy and extreme weather. People who try to dismantle climate science and clean energy projects will certainly love YouTube for this move.

Since the YouTube support does not offer us the reason for the termination of the Climate State YouTube channel, we can not comment on it directly. We can guess, that it might have to do with a headline we used, or a video tag, or video content, maybe someone else had access to the account and done something to trigger this YouTube action, we simply do not know.

We do know that a large part of successful YouTube content is about pranks, humor, basically YouTube is about entertainment. And now there is even less science.
